Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of the C Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical pitches correspond to specific colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the painting transforms the fundamental harmony of C, E, and G into a visual composition that maintains the structural relationships of the original chord while creating an independent color experience.
Red-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing across multiple registers and creating substantial presence throughout the surface. Violet areas provide contrast in the upper regions, while yellow-orange and orange elements establish harmonic relationships between the warm color families. The composition organizes these colors into geometric forms with curved boundaries, creating visual rhythms that echo the spread voicing of the musical source. A deep red accent appears as a foundational element, corresponding to the root note C in the lowest register.
The acrylic painting measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm on wood panel, creating a compact format suitable for intimate viewing. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0243 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature integrated into the composition. The piece demonstrates the systematic approach of translating specific musical intervals into color relationships, maintaining the harmonic logic of the C Major triad while establishing its own visual coherence.
