Db Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the chromesthetic translation of the Db Major triad through a geometric composition that maps musical harmony to visual form. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece investigates how chord structures can be rendered through color relationships and spatial organization. The work examines the correspondence between musical intervals and visual proportions.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, with crimson and tomato colors occupying substantial areas across interlocking geometric forms. Steel gray provides contrast through curved and angular shapes, while yellow-green areas create accent notes that balance the warmer palette. Very dark orange and russet tones anchor the lower register, establishing a foundation that supports the brighter elements above. The colors organize into overlapping planes that suggest harmonic layering.

The acrylic work measures 30 × 42 cm on wood panel, creating a vertical format that emphasizes the ascending structure of the composition. This piece represents one variation within the broader harmonic research series, exploring how the Db Major chord - with its root, major third, and perfect fifth - can be visualized through color interaction. Certificate number 20241201-0221 documents the work's authenticity, with the artist's signature positioned according to the compositional balance.
