Db Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a Db Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition investigates how musical harmony can manifest as color relationships, translating the chord tones Db, F, and Ab into their corresponding visual equivalents. The piece functions as both a study in synesthetic perception and a meditation on the structural parallels between musical and visual harmony.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing in both deep shadows and brighter passages that create the work's primary harmonic foundation. Steel gray areas provide substantial presence in the upper regions, while dusty mauve occupies significant portions of the left side. The geometric forms overlap and intersect, creating layered relationships that mirror the voicing of a spread chord. A small orange accent appears as a bright note against the more subdued palette, adding harmonic complexity to the overall arrangement.

The acrylic on wood panel measures 30 × 42 cm and weighs minimal for easy handling. This seventh variation in the Research on Harmony series demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to translating specific musical structures into visual form. The work carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0220 and bears the artist's signature on the reverse.
