Db Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the Db Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical harmony becomes color harmony. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece investigates how chord structures can manifest as spatial color relationships, creating a direct correspondence between auditory and visual experience.

Blue-green tones dominate the composition, appearing in two distinct variations that occupy over a third of the surface. Red family colors create substantial presence through dusty mauve and palevioletred areas, while very dark purple provides a strong foundational element. The geometric forms organize these colors into clear spatial divisions, with curved and angular shapes creating dialogue between the harmonic elements. Small accent notes of yellow-green, red-orange, yellow, and blue punctuate the composition, adding complexity to the basic triad structure.

The acrylic on wood panel measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm, creating a compact vertical format. The work carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0273 and forms part of the artist's systematic investigation into musical-visual correspondences. The piece demonstrates how the fundamental intervals of a major chord can be expressed through color relationships and spatial organization, with each hue corresponding to specific pitches within the harmonic structure.
