Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the E Major triad into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, where musical pitches correspond to specific colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece explores how harmonic relationships in music can be expressed through color relationships on canvas. The resolved voicing presents E, Ab, and B across multiple octaves, creating a spread chord that opens from dark foundation tones to bright accent colors.

Dark brown areas dominate the composition, representing the lower register foundation notes, while goldenrod and cornflower blue create substantial presence in the middle range. Blue-violet tones appear throughout the surface in two distinct values, forming the harmonic third relationships. Three accent colors provide precise harmonic punctuation: pale goldenrod in the upper register, very dark purple in the bass, and light slate gray as the fifth. The geometric forms organize these color relationships into clear spatial divisions, with curved and angular elements creating visual rhythm.

The acrylic on wood panel measures 30 × 42 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal for wall mounting. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0228 documents the work's provenance. The artist's signature appears on the reverse. This compact format concentrates the chromesthetic translation into an intimate scale, allowing the harmonic relationships to read clearly without overwhelming detail. The work demonstrates how musical structure can inform visual composition through systematic color correspondence.
