Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of musical harmony through chromesthetic mapping, where the E Major triad becomes a study in color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece investigates how chord structures can be experienced through visual rather than auditory perception.

Warm orange tones dominate the composition, occupying over a third of the surface through burlywood and tan hues that create the primary visual foundation. Royal blue and steel gray elements provide substantial counterpoint, appearing throughout the middle register of the composition. Deep violet forms anchor the lower areas, while accent notes of cadetblue, seagreen, and darker earth tones create harmonic complexity around the edges. The acrylic medium on wood panel allows for clean color boundaries and precise geometric relationships between the chromesthetic elements.

The work measures 30.0 × 40.0 × 0.4 cm and weighs minimal on its wood panel support. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0229 accompanies the piece. The composition translates specific musical pitches into their corresponding color families, with the resolved voicing spanning from E2 through Ab6, creating a visual representation of harmonic intervals and chord progressions that would typically exist only in sound.
