Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of E Major harmony through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, it transforms a piano étude into color relationships where the E Major triad appears as yellow, blue-violet, and yellow-green tones.

Warm ochre and tan tones dominate the composition, occupying substantial areas throughout the surface. Blue-violet steelblue provides strong contrast, while black creates grounding elements. The color arrangement follows the harmonic structure of the E Major chord, with accent colors in yellow-green and pure yellow marking specific tonal relationships. The acrylic technique on wood panel creates clean color boundaries that emphasize the geometric organization of the musical translation.

The work measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal on the wood panel support. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0281 accompanies this piece. The artist's approach converts the spread voicing of E Major across multiple octaves into a visual composition where each pitch corresponds to its chromesthetic color equivalent.
