Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work translates the Db Major triad into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, where specific pitches correspond to distinct colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece explores how harmonic relationships in music can be rendered as spatial color arrangements. The composition examines the chord D3-Ab4-Db5-F5-G5-Ab5-F6, presenting these tones through their visual equivalents.
Blue-violet tones dominate the composition, appearing as both light slate gray and grayish purple across substantial areas. Dark brown anchors the lower register, while coral and light steel blue create harmonic counterpoints. The geometric forms organize these colors into distinct sections - rectangular blocks, circular elements, and angular divisions that mirror the chord's voicing structure. Acrylic paint on paper allows for clean color separation while maintaining subtle texture variations.
The work measures 10.5 × 15.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, created on paper support using acrylic technique. Certificate of authenticity number 20251123-0093 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located bottom right. This variation represents the fourteenth exploration in the Research on Harmony series, completed in November 2025 in France.
