Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of Ab Major harmony through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The Ab Major triad appears as a spread voicing across six octaves, with each chord tone rendered in its corresponding color family. The composition investigates how harmonic relationships can be perceived through color rather than sound.
Blue tones dominate the composition, representing the Ab root notes across multiple octaves. Red areas provide substantial presence through the third degree (C), while red-orange elements create accent points. A blue-violet note appears as a precise accent, marking the fifth degree (Eb4) in the middle register. The geometric forms organize these harmonic colors into distinct zones, with circular and rectangular shapes creating clear boundaries between chord tones.
The work measures 10 × 15 cm and weighs minimal on paper support, executed in acrylic. Certificate of authenticity number 20240615-0140 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. This variation represents one exploration within the broader Synesthetic Explorations series, which translates musical structures into visual form through systematic color mapping.
