Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Watercolor Study in C Major No. 2 translates a piano étude into visual form. Arnaud Quercy maps the C Major triad — notes C1, C2, E3, and G4 — onto a color system where each pitch corresponds to a specific hue range. Red moves toward black, yellow moves toward yellow-orange, and red-orange moves toward orange. The work belongs to the C Major series within the Synesthetic Explorations collection, which uses personal expression as its foundation.

Warm orange tones fill the surface from edge to edge, ranging across peru, burnt sienna, and ochre. The image confirms what the color data supports: two large flat fields divide the vertical composition, one cooler and more muted on the left, one warmer and lighter on the right. A central vertical rectangle in gray anchors the middle, with a dark near-black square sitting at its base. A golden yellow-green half-circle extends from behind the central form on the lower left. Fine black lines extend upward from the top of the vertical element. The overall palette stays tightly within orange and earth tones throughout, with a small yellow-orange accent providing the only departure from that range. Black line work defines the geometric shapes and adds structure to the composition. The work is executed in watercolor on paper.

The painting measures 30 × 21 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the second work in the C Major series. It carries certificate number 20260713-0143. The work was created on 13 July 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It has been exhibited at the Solabi Vare exhibition at Art Quam Anima, Paris, opening 30 May 2026. The work is currently available.
