Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of a C Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition transforms the fundamental chord tones C, E, and G into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a direct bridge between musical harmony and visual experience. The piece investigates how harmonic relationships can be preserved when translated from sound to color.
Red-orange tones dominate the composition, occupying substantial areas alongside warm orange hues that create the primary visual foundation. A pale red-violet section provides contrast in the upper portion, while darker blue-violet forms anchor the left side. Small accent areas of very dark red, yellow-orange, and yellow appear as precise color notes throughout the surface. The colors organize into geometric shapes with both curved and angular boundaries, creating a structured yet fluid arrangement.
The work measures 30.0 × 42.0 cm and weighs minimal as acrylic on wood panel. This piece represents Variation 3 within the broader harmonic research series, building on systematic color-to-sound correspondences developed throughout the collection. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0216 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature positioned according to standard documentation practices.
