Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Arnaud Quercy translates a short piano étude in F major into color in this acrylic painting on linen. The work is Variation 15 of the F Major series, part of the Harmonic Crossing collection. This collection is an ongoing practice of translating harmonic relationships into visual form. Each variation is a direct study focused on the essential character of one chord. Here the F major triad spreads across six notes, from F1 to A5, covering the full keyboard.

Each note of the chord carries its own color. F moves from red-violet toward black, C from red toward red-orange, and A from yellow-orange toward orange. On the canvas, dark slate grays fill the left side and the lower right corner. A tall gray band runs nearly the full height at left, with near-black at its base. A pale ochre field occupies the upper right. Between these areas, a central column stacks blocks of orange, golden yellow, deep red, mauve gray and russet brown. A narrow strip of small panels crosses the middle in pale pink, olive, crimson and beige. A coral-pink disc sits at the right edge of the column, overlapping both the pale field and the dark gray below. Thin black lines outline every shape, and the linen weave shows through the flat acrylic layers.

The painting measures forty-one by thirty-three centimeters, with a depth of two centimeters. It weighs approximately half a kilogram. Arnaud Quercy completed it in Paris in late August 2026. It is listed in the catalogue raisonné as AQC1100 and carries certificate number 20260829-0152. The artist's AQC monogram appears in the lower right corner.

The étude behind the painting is marked Modéré, a moderate tempo, and mezzo-piano, a gentle volume. It is played legato, so the notes connect without breaks. Written in four beats, it keeps a steady, even pulse. The melodic line rises from F1, shown in black, to A5 in yellow-orange at its highest point. It then turns and descends, forming a single arch.
