Db Minor

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the Db Minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition translates the chord tones Db, E, and Ab into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a visual representation of harmonic relationships. The work examines how musical intervals can be expressed through spatial color arrangements.

Blue tones dominate the composition, appearing across the upper portion and providing the primary visual foundation. Yellow-orange areas occupy substantial regions throughout the piece, creating warm counterpoints to the cooler blues. Pale yellow accents emerge in geometric forms, while darker brown and gray tones anchor the lower sections. The acrylic medium allows for clean color separation and precise geometric boundaries between tonal areas.

The work measures 21 × 21 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, executed in acrylic on paper. Certificate of authenticity number 20251123-0100 documents the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. This variation represents the ninth exploration in the Research on Harmony series, examining different approaches to visualizing musical chord structures through color relationships.
