Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the Db Minor triad into visual color relationships through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the painting explores how musical harmonies can appear as coordinated color structures. The piece examines the correspondence between the chord tones Db, E, and Ab and their visual equivalents in blue-green, yellow-green, and blue-violet families.

Warm tan and burlywood tones fill the upper areas of the composition, while blue-violet forms create substantial presence in the lower section. Blue-green areas provide connecting elements between these zones, with very dark gray anchoring the left portion. The geometric forms divide into distinct rectangular and curved sections, creating clear boundaries between color families. Small accent colors in red-orange, yellow-green, and violet appear throughout, adding harmonic complexity to the primary relationships.

The work measures 30.0 × 42.0 cm and uses acrylic on wood panel, creating a compact format suitable for detailed color study. The painting carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0222, with the artist's signature located on the reverse. As Variation 5 within the Research on Harmony series, it represents one approach to visualizing the specific tonal qualities of the Db Minor chord through systematic color translation.
