Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of an A Major piano étude through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece converts the fundamental triad A-C#-E into its corresponding color relationships, creating a direct bridge between musical harmony and visual experience. The composition investigates how chord structures can maintain their harmonic logic when expressed through color rather than sound.
Orange tones dominate the surface, appearing in warm tan and chocolate hues that occupy substantial areas of the composition. Yellow-orange appears throughout in steel gray and muted gray tones, while blue provides contrast through steelblue accents. The acrylic paint creates clean geometric divisions between color areas, with each hue maintaining distinct boundaries that mirror the clarity of individual piano notes. Small accent colors in yellow-green, blue-green, and red-orange appear as precise details, adding harmonic complexity to the primary chord structure.
The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm on wood panel, weighing 0.0 kg. Created in 2024 in France, the piece carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0239. The artist's signature appears on the reverse. The compact format allows the color relationships to read as a unified harmonic statement, with each geometric area functioning as a visual equivalent to specific pitches in the A Major triad.
