About This Artwork

This charcoal drawing explores the essence of femininity through abstract geometric forms and careful tonal relationships. Part of the Mediterranean Echoes collection, the work investigates how traditional figure drawing can be reimagined through contemporary geometric abstraction. The composition addresses questions of identity and representation by fragmenting and reconstructing the female form into essential shapes and patterns.

The drawing organizes itself around interlocking circles, angular lines, and curved forms that suggest rather than directly depict the human figure. Gray tones dominate the composition, with darker charcoal areas creating substantial presence throughout the upper and central regions. Lighter passages provide contrast and breathing space, while diagonal striped patterns add rhythmic elements that activate the surface. The charcoal medium allows for rich tonal gradations, from deep blacks to subtle grays, creating spatial depth through value relationships rather than linear perspective.

This work measures 21.0 × 29.5 cm on paper, making it part of Quercy's small-format drawing series from 2022. The piece carries certificate of authenticity number 20221231-0061 and bears the artist's signature on the front. Created in France as part of the Mediterranean Echoes collection, the drawing demonstrates Quercy's contemporary approach to figure studies through geometric abstraction.
