Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This acrylic painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the D Minor 7 chord — built from the notes D1, D2, D4, A4, A5, and F7 — onto a structured field of geometric forms. The work belongs to the Harmonic Crossing collection and sits within the D Minor 7 series, which draws on piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping as its primary sources.
Warm neutral tones fill most of the painted surface. Silver, steel gray, and rosy brown tones spread across the ground, establishing a muted field that reads as the chord's sustained resonance. Against this, orange pushes through in a vertical band at the left, while a deep firebrick red-orange occupies a central column. A large lavender-gray arc — visible as a near-circle cut by the composition's edges — spans the upper-left zone, shifting the eye between the warm and cool registers. Dark near-black tones anchor the left edge and lower sections, providing structural contrast. A pale warm white appears as a minimal accent, present but restrained. The composition uses hard-edged geometric divisions, with black outlines separating each color zone. The paint is acrylic on paper, applied with flat, even coverage across each section.
The painting measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. The work carries certificate number 20261002-0165. It was first shown publicly at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio exhibition at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from October 2 to 4, 2026. The work is currently available.
