Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the D Minor 7 chord — built from the notes D1, A4, A5, and F6 — onto a grid of acrylic fields, each note assigned a color relationship: orange toward black, red-violet toward yellow-orange, yellow-orange and red. The work belongs to the Harmonic Crossing collection and opens the D minor 7 series, which draws on piano studies and cycle of fifths mapping as its structural foundation.
Warm neutral tones fill the largest areas of the composition. A pale, greyed yellow-orange spreads across the upper portion of the painting and the background field, establishing the ground from which the other colors read. Below and within the grid, deeper warm tones — russet, burnt sienna, and dark red-orange — occupy smaller, more concentrated zones. A near-black field anchors the lower right, providing the darkest contrast in the work. The composition is organized as a vertical grid of rectangular color blocks, with a curved form cutting through the lower center, softening the otherwise rectilinear structure. Black outlines define each zone. The image confirms what the color data supports: the palette is warm and close in value across most of the surface, with the active chromatic tension concentrated in the orange, red-violet, and black passages.
The painting measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is acrylic on paper. The work was created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris, and first exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon — the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through October 4, 2026. It carries certificate number 20261002-0156 and is currently available. It is the first variation in the D minor 7 series within the Harmonic Crossing collection.
