Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the A Minor triad — spanning registers A0, A3, A4, and A5 — onto a visual field, using the cycle of fifths as a structural guide. The work belongs to the A Minor series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores chromatic equivalents of harmonic relationships drawn from piano studies.

Warm yellow-orange tones spread across most of the surface, forming the dominant ground of the composition. Orange tones fill substantial areas alongside them, shifting from sandy beige through burnt sienna toward deeper, darker shades. A concentrated black zone anchors one section of the painting, providing strong contrast against the surrounding warmth. Red appears as a focused block, and yellow-gold curves through the composition as a distinct accent. Cool gray occupies the upper register, separated from the warmer zones below. The painting uses a grid of black outlines to divide the surface into geometric fields — rectangles, arches, and curved segments — organizing the color relationships into a structured, readable form. Acrylic on paper gives the surface a flat, matte quality with clean edges between zones.

The work measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, painted on paper. It is the fourteenth variation in the A Minor series. The work was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris and shown the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio exhibition at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running from 2 to 4 October 2026. It is certified under number 20261002-0167 and remains available.
