Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the chromesthetic translation of a Bb minor chord through acrylic painting. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece converts musical harmony into visual form, where the triad of Bb, Db, and F becomes a composition of red-orange, red, and gray tones. The work investigates how musical intervals can find expression through color relationships and spatial organization.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing in brown and indianred forms that occupy substantial areas of the surface. Light coral provides bright red accents, while steel gray and silver create neutral zones that balance the warmer colors. A small orange accent appears as lightsalmon, adding a bright note to the predominantly red-orange palette. The colors layer and interact across geometric forms, with curved and angular shapes creating visual rhythms that echo harmonic structures.

The acrylic work measures 30.0 × 40.0 cm on wood panel, creating a compact format that concentrates the color relationships. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0211 documents the work's provenance. The piece represents one exploration within the broader Synesthetic Explorations collection, which examines the intersection of musical and visual perception through systematic color-sound correspondences.
