Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of the Bb Minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical harmonies become color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece transforms the chord tones Bb, Db, and F into their corresponding colors of violet, blue-green, and red-violet, creating a direct bridge between auditory and visual perception.
Blue-green tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout substantial areas of the surface. Red-violet hues occupy nearly equal space, creating a strong harmonic counterpoint. Deep violet forms provide the foundational bass note, while darker grays and blacks establish structural boundaries. Small accent notes in yellow-orange and pure white punctuate the color field, adding brightness and contrast to the predominantly cool palette.
The work measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal on wood panel support, executed in acrylic. Certificate number 20241201-0266 documents the piece's authenticity. This ninth variation in the harmonic research series demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to translating musical structures into visual form, making abstract harmonic relationships tangible through color and spatial organization.
