About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of D minor harmony through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition presents the D minor triad — D, F, A — as a spread voicing that opens across multiple octaves, creating harmonic relationships through color rather than sound.

Orange tones dominate the composition, representing the fundamental D notes at different octaves. Yellow-orange areas provide the fifth (A), while red-orange sections add harmonic complexity. A small white accent appears as the third (F) in the upper register, creating visual tension similar to the chord's inherent melancholic character. The colors layer and interact across geometric forms, with sharp edges defining distinct harmonic areas.

The acrylic on paper measures 21.0 × 21.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. This is Variation 10 in the Research on Harmony series, exploring how musical intervals translate into spatial relationships. Certificate of authenticity number 20251123-0098 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The compact square format concentrates the harmonic analysis into an intimate study of minor tonality.
