Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the tritone interval between D and G# through chromesthetic translation, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The work translates the musical tension of this historically significant interval into visual form, examining how dissonance appears when sound becomes color.

Pale grays and whites dominate the composition, creating a luminous field that occupies most of the surface. Blue-gray tones appear throughout the geometric forms, while subtle orange accents provide contrast. The composition organizes rectangular shapes and linear elements across a horizontal baseline, with vertical lines extending upward into the lighter areas. The watercolor technique creates soft edges and gentle color transitions across the paper surface.

The work measures 16.0 × 24.0 cm and weighs minimal as a paper-based piece. This piece represents the tenth work in the Reflexions series, translating the Ab4, D5, Ab5 voicing into visual relationships. Certificate of authenticity number 20240718-0165 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The piece was completed in 2024 and sold to a collector in Paris, France.
