F# Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of F# Major through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece investigates how musical harmony appears when translated into color relationships, creating a visual equivalent to piano chord voicings.

Yellow-green tones dominate the composition, appearing as silver and steel gray forms that occupy substantial areas of the paper. Deep blue and warm orange accents provide contrast through geometric shapes - purple rectangles and a blue semicircle create structured elements against the flowing watercolor ground. The technique allows colors to blend naturally while maintaining distinct harmonic zones.

The work measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, signed at bottom right with certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0031. This variation within the Research on Harmony series demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to translating musical structures into visual form. The F# Major triad appears through resolved voicing as Db3, F#4, D5, F#5, Bb6, with each note corresponding to specific color families within the chromesthetic system.

Materials & Technique

This painting is created using artist-grade watercolor pigments on acid-free, archival paper. Watercolor's transparency creates luminous effects as light passes through the pigment layers to reflect off the white paper beneath.

The work demonstrates careful control of water and pigment to achieve both soft washes and precise details. Each piece is signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity with unique registration number.
