Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the C Major9 chord into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, exploring the relationship between musical harmony and color perception. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece demonstrates how specific musical intervals can be expressed through precise color relationships and geometric arrangements.

Orange tones dominate the composition, with chocolate and peru colors occupying substantial areas alongside lighter salmon variations. Deep black and very dark gray forms create structural anchors, while small accents of beige and red-orange provide harmonic tension. The geometric shapes organize these colors into clear relationships that mirror the chord's intervallic structure.

The work measures 21.0 × 29.5 cm and weighs minimal amounts as an acrylic on paper piece. Certificate of authenticity number 20240306-0044 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located on the back. This piece was completed in 2024 as part of ongoing research into synesthetic translation methods.
