Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the visual representation of a D minor chord through chromesthetic mapping, translating musical harmony into color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work investigates how the fundamental triad of D, F, and A can be perceived through yellow-orange, white, and gray tones respectively.

The composition centers on warm yellow-orange hues that occupy most of the surface, appearing as silver, tan, and lighter cream tones that flow across geometric forms. Gray areas provide structural contrast through steel gray shapes, while white elements create bright focal points. A deep charcoal accent and subtle red-violet touches complete the harmonic palette. The watercolor technique allows these colors to blend at their edges while maintaining distinct zones that correspond to specific musical pitches.

The work measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, with certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0019 and signature located at bottom right. This compact format presents the D minor voicing as A4, D5, A5, and F6, with each pitch assigned its corresponding chromesthetic color through the artist's synesthetic perception system.
