Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
Quercy translates the D Major9 chord into visual form through his synesthetic mapping system, where musical harmony becomes geometric color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, this work converts the chord's five tones into a structured composition that makes harmonic relationships visible through color interaction.
White tones dominate the composition, appearing in broad areas that correspond to the chord's seventh note. Yellow-orange forms occupy substantial sections, representing the chord's fifth and ninth intervals, while gray areas provide structural foundation throughout the piece. Orange accents create focal points, mapping to the root note, with a single red-orange detail marking the resolved bass register.
The acrylic on paper measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm and weighs minimal for easy handling. Certificate of authenticity number 20240220-0017 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The piece demonstrates Quercy's systematic approach to chromesthetic translation, converting musical intervals into spatial color relationships through geometric abstraction.
