Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a C Major9 chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece transforms harmonic relationships into color relationships, creating a visual representation of musical structure where each chord tone corresponds to a specific color family.

Dark violet tones dominate the composition, occupying substantial areas and representing the low register foundation. Orange colors appear throughout the surface in varied intensities, from deep chocolate tones to lighter coral and burlywood areas. Small accent notes of red-orange and yellow-orange provide harmonic punctuation within the overall structure.

The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm on paper support, executed in acrylic. Certificate of authenticity number 20240306-0056 accompanies the piece, with artist signature on the back. This variation represents the artist's systematic investigation into color-sound correspondences, translating the extended harmony of a major ninth chord into visual form.
