G minor

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual representation of G minor harmony through chromesthetic translation, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition translates the G minor triad — G, Bb, D — into its corresponding color equivalents of gray, violet, and orange tones. The piece investigates how musical chord structures can be expressed through spatial color relationships.

The composition centers on warm orange tones that fill nearly half the surface, appearing in multiple variations from burnt sienna to sandybrown. Violet accents provide substantial presence through dusty mauve, while gray areas anchor the composition with darkslategray tones. A small purple circle and white rectangle create focal points within the geometric arrangement. The colors organize into overlapping planes and curved forms that suggest the spread voicing of the original chord.

The acrylic work measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal amounts on wood panel support. Created in 2024, this piece carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0260. The work represents Quercy's systematic approach to translating musical structures into visual form, demonstrating how harmonic relationships can be expressed through color distribution and geometric organization.
