Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of the F# Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The painting translates the chord's fundamental structure — F#, A#, C# — into corresponding color relationships, examining how harmonic intervals appear when converted to visual form. The spread voicing opens across multiple octaves, creating layered color interactions that mirror the chord's acoustic properties.
Green tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout the surface in varied intensities from deep sea green to bright aquamarine. Violet areas occupy substantial portions, ranging from very dark purple to dusty mauve, while blue-green accents provide harmonic contrast. The colors organize into geometric forms that suggest the chord's intervallic relationships, with overlapping planes creating visual harmonies. Dark accent colors appear sparingly, adding depth and definition to the primary color relationships.
The work measures 30 × 40 cm and weighs minimal on canvas support, using acrylic technique to achieve clean color separation and precise geometric forms. Created in 2024 as part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, it carries certificate of authenticity number 20240602-0097 with signature located on the front right. The painting represents ongoing research into the visual properties of musical harmony, translating abstract sound relationships into concrete color interactions.
