Eb Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of an Eb Major chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition investigates how musical harmony can be expressed through color relationships, transforming the fundamental triad of Eb, G, and Bb into corresponding visual elements. The piece functions as both a study in synesthetic perception and a concrete example of cross-sensory artistic translation.

Dusty mauve dominates the upper portion of the composition, occupying substantial areas alongside warm orange and burnt sienna tones that fill the central regions. Golden yellow provides bright accents in geometric forms, while silver-gray areas create neutral transitions throughout the surface. Very dark gray anchors the lower left quadrant, establishing visual weight that balances the lighter elements above. The acrylic medium allows for clean color separation while maintaining subtle gradations where forms meet.

The work measures 30 × 42 cm on wood panel, positioning it within the medium scale range suitable for detailed examination of color interactions. This piece represents variation 3 within the Research on Harmony series, demonstrating how a single chord can generate multiple visual interpretations through different compositional approaches. The work includes certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0225 and bears the artist's signature in the lower right corner.
