Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a D minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical notes correspond to specific colors. The piece belongs to the Synesthetic Explorations collection, investigating how harmonic relationships can be expressed through color relationships on a compact scale.

Orange tones dominate the composition, representing the D notes in different octaves. Very dark gray appears in substantial areas, providing the foundational bass note, while warm orange variations create the primary harmonic content. Yellow-orange and red-orange tones add harmonic complexity, with a small dark brown accent providing the resolved third of the chord.

The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm and uses acrylic on wood panel. Certificate number 20241201-0253 authenticates the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The compact format allows the chromesthetic relationships to be read as a unified harmonic statement, translating the D minor chord into its visual equivalent through systematic color correspondence.
