Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a D minor triad through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the painting converts the fundamental chord tones D, F, and A into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a direct bridge between musical harmony and visual experience.

Yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, with goldenrod occupying the largest areas and darkgoldenrod providing substantial presence throughout. Tan and sandybrown create additional yellow-orange variations, while burnt sienna and russet introduce warmer orange and red-orange accents. A dark gray form anchors the left side, contrasting with the warm palette, and a small yellow accent appears as dark brown, adding harmonic complexity to the color relationships.

The acrylic on wood panel measures 30.0 × 42.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs negligible amounts, making it a compact vertical format. The work carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0292 and represents the artist's systematic approach to translating musical structures into visual form. Created in France in 2024, the painting demonstrates how specific chord voicings can generate distinct color harmonies through synesthetic interpretation.
