Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Quercy translates the D Major9 chord into visual form through his synesthetic mapping system, where each musical note corresponds to a specific color family. This work explores how harmonic relationships in music can be expressed through geometric color arrangements, making auditory structures visible.

White tones dominate the composition, occupying nearly half the surface area and creating a luminous foundation. Yellow-orange forms appear throughout substantial areas, while gray tones provide structural contrast. The colors organize into distinct geometric sections that intersect and layer, creating visual harmonies that mirror the chord's musical intervals.

The acrylic on paper measures 10 × 15 cm and weighs minimal for easy handling. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, this variation demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to color-sound correspondence. Certificate of authenticity number 20240220-0022 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right.
