Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the C minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition transforms the fundamental chord tones C, Eb, and G into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a direct bridge between musical harmony and visual experience. The piece investigates how harmonic relationships in music can be made tangible through color interaction.

Blue-violet tones dominate the upper portion, representing the minor third Eb, while warm orange and red-orange areas fill substantial regions below, corresponding to the root C and fifth G. Black elements provide structural anchoring in the lower register, with small accent notes of pale red and yellow-orange adding harmonic complexity. The geometric forms divide the surface into distinct color zones that mirror the spread voicing of the chord across different octaves.

The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm and weighs minimal on paper support, executed in acrylic. Certificate of authenticity number 20240615-0118 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located bottom right. This variation represents one exploration within the broader Synesthetic Explorations series, where Quercy systematically investigates the correspondence between musical structures and visual color relationships.
