Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a C Major9 chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection where musical harmonies become visible through color relationships. The piece translates the five-note voicing C1-C2-G3-D4-D5 into a geometric composition that makes harmonic structure tangible.

Orange tones dominate the composition, with chocolate and coral hues filling most of the surface area. Deep black forms anchor the lower register while red-orange accents provide harmonic punctuation. The colors organize into distinct geometric zones, with warm orange families creating the primary visual mass and darker tones establishing structural foundation.

The work measures 10 × 15 cm and weighs minimal as acrylic on paper, making it highly portable within the collection's compact format. Certificate of authenticity number 20240306-0051 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature on the back. This represents Variation 7 within the Research on Harmony series, demonstrating the systematic approach to translating musical intervals into visual form.
