Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the C Major9 chord into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece explores how musical harmony can become visible through color relationships, converting the chord's six notes into corresponding hues based on the artist's synesthetic experience.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, with warm coral and salmon colors filling most areas. Violet shades appear throughout in varying intensities, creating substantial presence in darker purple-gray regions. The colors organize into distinct geometric zones, with a curved boundary separating the warmer right section from the cooler violet-dominated left area. Small accent notes of deep blue-violet and muted orange provide contrast points within the larger color fields.

The acrylic work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm on paper, creating an intimate study format. Certificate of authenticity number 20240306-0055 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature on the back. The work represents Variation 11 within the broader harmonic research series, specifically examining how the major ninth chord's extended harmony translates into visual color relationships.
