Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This acrylic painting maps the D Minor 7 chord onto color. Each note in the chord — D0, D2, D3, A4, A5 — corresponds to a color zone: orange moving toward black, red-violet, yellow-orange, and red. The work belongs to the D minor 7 series and to the broader Harmonic Crossing collection, which uses the cycle of fifths as a structural framework for translating piano studies into visual form.

Warm yellow-orange tones fill most of the surface, ranging from pale tan and rosy beige through deeper, grayer ochres. These tones spread across the composition as a continuous ground. Saturated orange and russet areas appear in distinct geometric blocks — a vertical band, a triangular wedge, and a lower rectangular zone — creating clear separations between color fields. A large black form anchors the lower left, curving upward with a rounded edge. A muted purple-gray bar runs vertically through the center, separating the composition into left and right sections. In the lower right, a deep red-orange area carries the painting's most saturated accent. The composition is built from hard-edged geometric shapes with visible canvas texture throughout, painted in acrylic on paper.

The painting measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was made on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. The work carries certificate number 20261002-0171. It was first shown publicly at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from 2 to 4 October 2026. The work is currently available.
