Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Watercolor Study in D Minor No. 2 translates a piano étude into color. Quercy maps the D minor triad — D, F, A, D across registers — onto a chromatic range running from orange through black, red-violet, and yellow-orange. The work belongs to the D minor series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores the relationship between musical harmony and color.

Warm burnt sienna tones fill the surface, ranging from lighter, more golden areas to deeper russet passages. The orange family dominates throughout, shifting gradually toward darker, earthier values. A concentrated area of deep red-violet — close to maroon and very dark red — sits to the right, providing the strongest contrast in the composition. Thin black lines define the structural forms: a vertical division near the center, a small filled rectangle at mid-left, and a curved boundary enclosing the red-violet shape. The paper support shows through in the warm ground, contributing to the overall tone. Watercolor on paper allows the colors to layer transparently, and the black ink lines hold the geometric arrangement in place.

The work measures 21 × 21 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the second work in the D minor series. Certificate number 20260713-0117 identifies this piece. Quercy created it on 13 July 2026 at his Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was exhibited at Solabi Vare, Art Quam Anima, Paris, and was subsequently acquired by a collector in Oslo, Norway, on 29 August 2026.
