F7 - Research on Harmony translates a piano étude into visual form through harmonic-chromatic mapping. Part of the Harmonic Crossing collection, this work explores how the F7 dominant seventh chord appears when rendered as color relationships. The piece investigates the cycle of fifths mapping, converting musical harmony into visual experience.
The composition organizes around a silver-gray foundation that anchors the surface. Red and red-violet tones create substantial presence through dusty mauve and pale violet areas, while light gray and cream zones provide bright counterpoints. Deep black and steel gray sections establish contrast, with small yellow and blue-violet accents completing the harmonic structure. The acrylic medium on paper allows precise color placement and clean edge definition.
