Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a Gb Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical pitches correspond to specific colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, it transforms piano harmonies into geometric color relationships, investigating how musical structures can be perceived through visual form.

Turquoise dominates the composition, representing the F# notes across multiple octaves, while violet tones appear in substantial areas as the Bb components of the chord. Dark green forms create depth in the lower registers, with black providing the bass foundation. A bright pink circle anchors the center, surrounded by geometric divisions that separate the color fields. White accents punctuate the blue section, while small touches of yellow-orange create harmonic tension points throughout the arrangement.

This acrylic on paper work measures 12.0 × 18.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. The piece is signed bottom right and carries certificate of authenticity number 20251231-0135. As Variation 8 in the Research on Harmony series, it demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to translating specific musical chords into visual compositions, with each color area corresponding to particular notes in the Gb Major voicing.
