Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a C minor chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition transforms the fundamental triad of C, E♭, and G into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a visual piano étude that bridges auditory and visual perception.

Warm orange tones dominate the composition, with tan and salmon hues filling substantial areas of the surface. Red-orange forms appear in geometric sections, while blue-violet accents provide harmonic contrast in smaller zones. The acrylic paint creates clean edges between color blocks, organizing the chromesthetic translation into distinct geometric areas that mirror the chord's structural relationships.

The work measures 21.0 × 21.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, executed in acrylic on paper. This piece represents Variation 13 within the Research on Harmony series, exploring how musical intervals translate into spatial color relationships. The artist's signature appears on the bottom right, with certificate of authenticity number 20251123-0090 documenting its creation in France on November 23, 2025.
