G Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual representation of the G Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, translating musical harmony into watercolor form. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece investigates how chord structures can manifest as color relationships on paper. The work examines the correspondence between musical intervals and visual harmony through direct color translation.

Yellow-green tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout the surface in varied intensities from pale khaki to deeper ochre. These colors represent the B notes that form the third of the G Major chord, appearing in both the fourth and fifth octaves. Orange accents provide contrast through russet and burnt sienna tones, while small areas of yellow-orange and pure yellow create precise color points that correspond to the chord's root and fifth positions.

The watercolor measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper and carries certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0036. The artist's signature appears at bottom right. This work represents Variation 7 within the Research on Harmony series, demonstrating how traditional chord progressions translate into contemporary color studies. The piece uses wet-on-dry watercolor techniques to maintain distinct color boundaries while allowing subtle gradations within each tonal area.
