Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
Series: Flâneries Parisiennes
Part of City of Lights, Shadows of Thoughts · 8 works in this series
Eight works, four years, four media. Flâneries Parisiennes moves through the streets, cafés, and stone-work of Paris not as documentation but as a series of translated encounters — each medium chosen for what it can hold: the weight of a neighborhood, the warmth of a café, the mineral quiet of a craftsman's hands.
About This Artwork
Playgrounds explores the intersection of structured play and spontaneous creation through abstract watercolor composition. Part of the "City of Lights, Shadows of Thoughts" collection, the work translates the organizational patterns of urban recreational spaces into a visual language of overlapping forms and intersecting lines. The piece examines how planned environments can foster unexpected interactions and creative possibilities.
Warm yellow-orange tones fill most of the composition, creating a foundation of sandy beiges and wheats that suggest playground surfaces. Gray areas provide structural contrast, while vibrant orange accents appear in concentrated bursts throughout the piece. The watercolor technique allows colors to blend naturally at their edges, creating soft transitions between geometric shapes and linear elements. Black ink lines define boundaries and create connections across the surface, organizing the composition into distinct zones that maintain visual unity.
The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm on paper, making it part of the artist's small-format exploration series. Created in 2024, it carries certificate of authenticity number 20240120-0011, with the artist's signature located at the bottom right. The compact scale concentrates the visual elements into an intimate viewing experience, where each geometric form and color relationship contributes to the overall sense of organized play.
