Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a G minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece transforms the fundamental chord tones G, Bb, and D into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a visual harmony that mirrors musical relationships. The composition investigates how harmonic intervals can be perceived through color relationships rather than sound.

Yellow-orange tones dominate the surface, with violet areas providing substantial presence throughout the composition. Very dark gray anchors the lower register, while red-orange and orange colors create harmonic bridges across the visual field. The acrylic paint on wood panel allows for clean color separations and precise geometric forms. Three small accent colors appear as lavender and dusty mauve notes, adding chromatic complexity to the primary harmonic structure.

The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal amounts, making it part of the medium-scale format within the collection. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0259 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located on the reverse. This represents Variation 5 within the broader research into harmonic visualization, continuing the systematic exploration of chord structures through color relationships established in the series.
