Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates Chopin's F# Minor Polonaise opening into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece explores how musical harmony can manifest as color relationships, creating a visual chord that mirrors the emotional weight of the original composition.

Yellow-green tones dominate the composition, occupying substantial areas through darkslategray and dark brown hues that create the visual foundation. Yellow appears throughout in multiple forms, from the deep darkslategrey base to bright yellowgreen accents and golden ochre highlights. Green provides structural support through dimgray and cadetblue sections, while blue-green adds depth through gray-blue passages. Orange and red-orange accent colors appear as small but vital russet and steel gray notes.

The work measures 80 × 80 cm on linen canvas, executed in acrylic with geometric forms that layer and intersect across the square format. The F# minor triad resolves through chromesthetic translation into this specific color palette, where each musical tone finds its visual equivalent. Certificate of authenticity number 20240718-0203 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right.
