Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a C minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The fundamental chord structure — C, Eb, G — appears as corresponding color relationships, transforming musical harmony into visual composition. The piece investigates how harmonic intervals can maintain their essential relationships when converted from auditory to visual experience.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing across multiple areas with firebrick and crimson creating substantial presence. Violet forms provide counterpoint through dusty mauve sections, while deeper red-violet areas anchor the lower portion. Small accent notes of orange and red create precise color punctuation, with chocolate and burnt sienna adding harmonic complexity to the overall chromatic structure.

The acrylic painting measures 40.0 × 50.0 cm on canvas, creating a compact vertical format. This first variation in the Research on Harmony series demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to translating musical structures into color relationships. Certificate of authenticity number 20240602-0080 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located on the front right. The piece was completed in France in 2024 as part of ongoing investigations into synesthetic perception.
