Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
Five o'clock, and the Marché des Enfants Rouges on rue de Bretagne stirs awake — the oldest covered market in Paris taking its first deliveries. Blue and lavender hang in the cool air, a magenta arc swings through, and orange and olive warm the corners like crates set down and stalls coming to life. You can almost hear the shutters lift.
This is one facet of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series painted from a piano waltz of the same name, each measure a place at a given hour. The waltz quickens, and from the chords E♭−9 and A♭7 — restless then golden — the artist caught the market's first breath of day.
Acrylic on paper, 18 × 13 cm, signed on the reverse. A warm, characterful piece that carries the bustle and promise of a beloved Paris market — a daily delight to own.
