Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
F Major 9 explores the translation of piano harmonies into visual form through systematic color mapping. This work transforms a specific major ninth chord voicing into acrylic paint, using the cycle of fifths as the organizing principle. The piece functions as both a color study and a harmonic analysis made visible.
Warm orange tones dominate the composition, with firebrick red and soft salmon hues creating the primary color structure. Silver and steel gray areas provide neutral counterpoints throughout the surface. A subtle red-violet accent appears as a small but crucial element, while chocolate brown and pale yellow-orange complete the harmonic palette. The colors organize into distinct geometric sections that correspond to specific pitches and octave registers.
The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, executed in acrylic on paper. The F Major 9 chord maps to five resolved pitches: F4, G4, F5, G5, and A6, each assigned its corresponding color through chromesthetic principles. The artist's signature appears at bottom right, with certificate of authenticity number 20260304-0003 documenting the work's provenance.
