Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This variation from the Synesthetic Explorations series translates the D minor triad into visual form through chromesthetic mapping. The work explores how musical harmony becomes visible color, with each note of the chord — D, F, A — rendered through specific color relationships that mirror the harmonic structure of this fundamental minor chord.

Yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing in silver and lightgray areas that occupy nearly half the surface. These warm neutrals create the harmonic foundation, while darker steel gray and ochre tones provide structural depth. Two precise accent colors punctuate the arrangement: a deep orange and a muted violet that correspond to specific pitches in the chord's voicing.

The watercolor measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm and belongs to the seventh position in the Research on Harmony series. The work carries certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0020 and bears the artist's signature in the bottom right corner. This compact format allows the chromesthetic relationships to read clearly while maintaining the subtle gradations essential to watercolor's translucent properties.
